From the perspective of global energy development, English has become
the principal means of multilingual scientific communication, especially in the
specialized fields of hydropower. This research analyzes the English terminology of
hydropower. It was based on an examination of official publications and research
articles, including those of the International Hydropower Association (IHA), U.S.
Department of Energy, and International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) to
prepare their documents and guidelines for international use. English terminology is
shown to be important for global standardization, scientific research, technological
advancement, and international collaboration. Furthermore, English language skills
are noted to be an emerging significant competitive advantage among hydropower
specialists from developing countries such as Uzbekistan, which aims to increase its
renewable energy resources and become active players in the world energy market.
This study states that english technical vocabulary mastery is indispensable for
sustaining hydropower evolution, for achieving international cooperation and
innovation toward sustainable energy security.
