This article explores the crucial role of language in ensuring effective
collaboration between engineers and local communities. As a means of communication,
language not only facilitates information exchange but also promotes mutual
understanding, trust, and active participation. By translating technical terminology into
simple and accessible language, engineers can enhance community engagement in
project planning and implementation. Moreover, using the local language fosters trust-
based relationships and helps to incorporate cultural values and community needs into
engineering solutions. The article examines how language enables shared decision-
making, prevents conflicts, and integrates local knowledge into design processes. It
concludes that language is not merely a tool for communication, but a fundamental
element of inclusive and sustainable engineering practice.
