Abstract

As global agriculture evolves towards more data-driven and technology-

enhanced methods, countries in transition such as Uzbekistan are seeking to modernize

their farming systems through the adoption of foreign machinery. Fertilizer spreading

technologies, in particular, have shown to significantly increase both yield and

efficiency when applied with precision tools such as Variable Rate Technology (VRT)

and GPS-enabled spreaders (Nguyen, 2021). However, a significant, yet often

underestimated barrier in this technological transfer is language — specifically, the

English language. As most machinery interfaces, manuals, and software instructions are

published exclusively in English, the inability to comprehend these sources leads to

improper use and missed opportunities in training and optimization (Marquez, 2020;

Dietrich, 2021). This paper investigates the indispensable role of English in enabling

students, engineers, and farmers in Uzbekistan to fully understand and utilize imported

fertilizer technologies. Through a review of equipment documentation, digital training

platforms, and academic findings, the study emphasizes the integration of English as a

core competence in agricultural education. English proficiency is not merely an asset but

a requirement in accessing the full value of international agro-technological

advancement.
