Abstract

This thesis explores the complex relationship between social media and
adolescent mental health, a pressing issue in today's digital landscape. While social media
platforms can foster connections, self-expression, and support networks, they also pose
significant risks, including increased anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem among teens. By
analyzing current research and real-life case studies, this study aims to present a balanced view
of the effects of social media. It will delve into the psychological mechanisms at play and
identify factors that contribute to both positive and negative outcomes . Ultimately, the thesis
seeks to provide insights and recommendations for parents, educators, and policymakers to
promote healthier social media usage among adolescents.
