According to the native language curriculum, by the end of the 3rd grade, the student must demonstrate the ability to determine the meaning of words found in the text, distinguish between the literal and figurative meaning of words, evaluate the role of means of artistic expression in speech, explain words and expressions. These requirements, set out in the curriculum, prove the importance of serious work on enriching the vocabulary of students. After all, without knowledge of the lexical and semantic meaning of a word, it is impossible to demonstrate the skills listed above.
