This scientific article explores the role of artificial intelligence (AI) tools in developing communicative competence in English as a Second Language (ESL) education. With the rapid advancement of AI and generative AI (GenAI) technologies, their application in teaching and learning is expanding, offering new opportunities to enhance both instructional practices and student engagement. The paper outlines best practices for integrating AI into the educational process, highlights practical use cases such as intelligent tutoring systems, automated grading, Chabots, and content generation, and examines how these tools can foster fluency, interaction, and personalized learning. At the same time, the study addresses challenges associated with the use of AI, including ethical concerns, privacy risks, and the potential for overreliance. By evaluating both the benefits and limitations of AI, the article emphasizes its potential to complement traditional methods, support teachers, and contribute to the effective development of communicative competence in ESL learners.
