THE INTERRELATIONSHIP BETWEEN MEMORY AND LANGUAGE
Keywords:
memory; language; cognitive processes; psycholinguistics; communication; mental representation; language acquisitionAbstract
This article explores the interrelationship between memory and language, focusing on their
reciprocal influence in the process of human cognition and communication. Memory serves as the
foundation for storing linguistic knowledge, while language provides a framework for organizing and
retrieving information. The paper highlights how different types of memory—short-term, working,
and long-term—contribute to language acquisition, comprehension, and production. It also examines
how linguistic structures assist in encoding, recalling, and reconstructing experiences. The study
emphasizes the importance of interdisciplinary approaches in psycholinguistics and cognitive science
for understanding how memory and language are intertwined in shaping thought and communication.
